How to make an impact on Giving Tuesday

We love Giving Tuesday.

Navigating one of the biggest US consumer holidays of the year is often stressful and completely unsustainable for our environment. Concluding the weekend with a day of gratitude, focused on giving back to communities around the world, is the right way to kickoff the holiday season.

That’s why for Giving Tuesday, not only are we offering up to 70% off ethical products between Friday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 27, we'll be donating 10% of profits to the Red Cross to help those effected by the forest fires across California.

The California forest fires this year have been the worst on record.

130,000 acres have been burned down.

9,000 firefighters are working day and night.

Over 7,600 homes have been destroyed.

There have been 50 deaths statewide and thousands have had to leave their home and seek shelter.

This Giving Tuesday, give back by making a purchase that will directly impact families in need across California.

We make it easy to contribute to your own community and beyond with the social impact brands we stock here at Alma Boa.

Check out three of our faves below!

Tonlé sees fashion differently. From the way it’s made to the way it’s worn. Encouraging the "unique" in everyone who touches the clothing is their aim.

Their process starts with scrap waste sourced from mass clothing manufacturers. Using every last thread, they create handmade clothing and accessories signed by their Cambodian makers.

Every piece brings economic stability to their family of employees as well as a space for makers to express themselves freely, learns new skills, and gains confidence in what they do.

Brass & Unity is a handcrafted jewelry company founded by Canadian Forces Veteran, Kelsi Sheren, as a means to give back to vets.

Kelsi joined the Military fresh out of college. Her 4 year stint in the Canadian Forces included a tour in Afghanistan during the summer of 2009.

After serving on the front lines, she was diagnosed with severe PTSD and was forced to return home. With Brass & Unity, Kelsi is able to combine art therapy and support her community. The brand upcycles real military brass shell casings to make beautiful, handcrafted jewelry. A portion of profits are donated directly to help struggling Veterans around the world.

Brass & Unity aims to tell a part of her story, and all of the stories of other Veterans with each uniquely crafted collection. Each piece is a reminder to be strong, follow your dreams, and never give up!
